For: High school students from a Gymnasium or Berufsmaturitätsschule in their third and final year before graduation.

What is it about?

“Kick-start your Career with AI» is a full-day hackathon aimed at empowering young and aspiring students to harness the power of AI to make informed decisions about their future education and career paths.

The event is designed to bring together students at the University of Zurich to collaborate, learn and create innovative ideas on how AI can be used in study and career choices. 

Why participate?

  • Engage with experts: Connect directly with AI experts and reseachers as well as people from the Career Services at the University of Zurich.
  • Skill development: Enhance problem-solving skills in a supportive environment. 
  • Personalized guidance: Receive mentorship from experts and university students. 
  • Certificate: All participants will receive a cerfiticate of participation. 
  • Exclusive opportunity: The winner team will get the chance to participate in the GLC Annual Meeting on 24 and 25 June 2024. 

Requirements

  • Participants are expected to bring their own laptops.
  • Interest in AI and creativity (No prior experience with coding or AI is required.)
  • Good presentation skills
  • Good knowledge of English (The hackathon will be held in German, but it is certain that the submission / presentation must be in English.)

    Participation is free of charge.
     

Registration

  • Registration is open for students in their final year before graduation (Gymnasium or Berufsmaturitätsschule)
  • Individual registration (time for team building will be scheduled). You can also apply with a partner.
  • Limited spots available: If the number of participants exceeds the number of places, the organisation team will make a selection based on a short application.
  • For registrations, kindly provide us with your contact information on the registration form and upload a brief video (max. 1 minute) expressing your motivation and interest in participatinghere.

Participants brainstorm ideas and form teams.

Teams work on their projects. 
Access to mentors and technical support for assistance.

13:00 Pitch Input and Guidelines
Guidance on how to structure and deliver a pitch
13:15 Project Refinement 
Teams continue developing and refining their projects

16:00 Final Presentations:  
Each team presents their solution to a panel of judges.

Conclusion and Apéro
The winner team is invited to participate in the GLC Annual Meeting
on 24 and 25 June 2024 in Villars-sur-Ollon
